Standard and Testing
Tests to substantiate the properties of
AvTurf have been conducted by the FAA at the William J. Hughes Technical Center. In addition,
wind tunnel and burn tests have shown the superiority of the product in terms
of its adhesion and lack of flammability. AvTurf was tested also for jet blast
and for supporting ultra-heavy loads, including large aircraft, and for
supporting emergency response (CFR/ARFF) equipment. Documentation for these
properties is contained in the FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 150/5370-15, Airside
Applications for Artificial Turf, and Engineering Brief 72A, Positive
Identification of Runways for Landing. AvTurf also meets the applicable ASTM
compliance installation requirements.
